- we went to our first California State Fair (Mr. M’s also been to the DE, PA & NY state fairs… lucky duck)
- saw “The House Bunny” (and giggled & talked too much during the movie)
- indulged in A&W root beer floats
- watched “Better Off Dead” [...]
I guess I forgot to put my go-to ice cream on my poll: MINT CHIP!
(Especially lovely using a SQUARE ice cream scoop — thank you Mom!)
Have a scrumptious weekend everyone!
Thanks to the newest publication from my handy dandy Nugget Market, I discovered that the California State Fair holds a competition celebrating the best commercial wines each year. Since California produces 90% of all of the wine in the country, you can be quite certain that the winners are truly at the [...]
While I’ve isolated my food-blog reading to only a few selections (seriously… I’d be hungry all day long otherwise!), I always make sure I check out my recipe bible: Everyday Food.
Yesterday, before stopping at the grocery store, I recalled a recipe that peaked my interest that morning. And, thanks to Ms. IPHONE, [...]
Is there such a thing as a “couch dance” ???
Because, if there is, we were doing it last night. Mr. M and I have been waiting to kick up our feet and stretch out on a couch for close to a year now… and just about 4 months for this one to arrive. [...]
No projects for the moment… as I’m still putting the finishing touches on the room! This week’s project: putting up the 3 LACK wall shelves. Silly IKEA and their perfect alignment for non-US wall studs has left this project in a lurch for quite awhile.
But it shall be nice to have [...]
Does anyone else recall “back in the day” when HARD CANDY nail polish was something like $12 (but back when gas was $1.50/gallon… and $12 was like $20) and those rings were the biggest status symbol in high school? For some reason Wet N’ Wild blue with glitter just didn’t cut it anymore and [...]
A couple days ago, I showed these silly pieces of Hedgehog art (from Carolyn Gavin) to Mr. M. You see, our dog Memphis has an extreme love for all things of the hedgehog variety and spends her day herding her troop of them around the house. So naturally, I’ve been [...]
How simply perfect is this garland from The Small Object. While triangles are easy to make and sew in a straight line, I’m sure that every other fun shape could find its way into this pattern!

There is something really neat about Jenn Ski’s artwork. One minute they look like bubbles, then cells, then the 1950′s version of modern. But they’re always fun. Very fun.
Signed/Numbered giclée prints with mats are $39. Original artwork starts at $125.
Last night, in honor of Mr. M’s b-day, I wanted to make some fresh strawberry ice cream. Sadly, there was a run on fresh cream in our local area, so I had to adjust my plans accordingly.
Quick thinking led me toward something simple but oh so yummy, and I assembled the ingredients below:
