#reverb10 – day 17

December 17 – Lesson Learned.

What was the best thing you learned about yourself this past year? And how will you apply that lesson going forward?

(Author: Tara Weaver)

The best thing? That I’m capable of being a mom. Sounds cheesy, but at this time last year, I had no idea if I was cut out for it or not.

I knew I could babysit, play with and entertain kids, and be a teacher. But that doesn’t mean I could be a real life mom. You know, the one that doesn’t technically have any hours off during the day, for, oh I dunno, the rest of your life? Now I understand that I’m not a full SAHM – but what I’m talking about is more of the emotional/mental state than anything else. I had no idea that I could pull any of it off…

But I am a mom now. And, for the most part, I think I’m doing a pretty decent job. I think I get some extra bonus points for feeding her tofu…

As for going forward? Well, it’s just another lesson that anyone can make the impossible possible. I think everyone has unlimited opportunities to do things they don’t think they can… but we just don’t stop and take advantage of all of them. I’d like to keep leaping and trying some more crazy things, and maybe failing along the way. But if I could tackle this big ‘ol job, I think I’ve been underestimating myself in lots of other ways!
