what is your “ultimate” event?

This afternoon, I visited Ticketmaster’s website with a general curiosity as to how much Super Bowl tickets were selling for in this lovely fiscal climate.

And I quickly got my answer…

Tickets in Section 329 (THE tippy TOP), Row Z (probably the last row, unless there’s AA or something) = $1552 each.

Lovely. Guess we won’t be making the 2 hour drive to Tampa for a little NFL action next Sunday… *chuckles to herself*

Some people spent insane amounts to attend the inauguration in DC, others to see a concert (or go on an NKOTB cruise), and still many more for sporting events.

With prices at insane levels… what event would you almost pay anything to attend???

facebook-ing the Olympics

HUGE Olympic fan here. HUGE. So big, in fact, that Mr. M is seriously monitoring the DVR usage over the next two weeks to make sure I don’t blow the whole thing up.

But this year, thanks to the glory of social networking, I’ve gotten to see even more of the Olympics than previously imagined.

One of my high school classmates (and LA ’02 TFAer) happened to be at the Opening Ceremonies on Friday night. She posted a few images at 3:30 PST of the festivities, warning friends back home that it was not to be missed.

Here you can see how smoggy the stadium REALLY is!

As well as what it looked like to a normal spectator!

Aw heck, she even got to say “hi” to Jackie Chan!

Then… thanks to an “announcement” on facebook, I find out that my sorority sister Sarah has a brother covering the games for NBC and is actively blogging about it here. So far, I’ve learned the press village food is disgusting and they serve $0.85 beers at the beach volleyball matches! That’s way better than Manhattan Beach prices!

I’ve also gotten to see the cheers and enthusiasm my friends have shared with athletes headed to the games, as well as the agony of defeat for those who didn’t make it through the trials this time around. And we’ve most recently shared in the mourning of UCLA family member, Todd Bachman, and sent prayers to his daughter, Wiz (’00) and wife, Barbara. MOH Audrey spoke to them numerous times when she covered volleyball for the Daily Bruin… and I knew his face from the annual banquets.

Social networking keeps bringing the world closer, and in this case, Beijing is starting to feel like my backyard.

mid-day charge

Most of the time I like to depend on scientific logic for my consumer product purchases. And other times, I just buy something based purely on its ability to invigorate my senses.

Â MAC’s Charged Water falls in the later category. While it allegedly has water ions “fused with vital ions from rhodochrosite” that somehow wake me up from a mid-day drooling session, I want to say it’s the grapefruit/mandarin smell that really helps kick up my eyelids. And it’s much cheaper and easier than running to get some chocolates or coffee down the street…

pink bruins

This past Sunday, the lady Bruins of UCLA tossed aside the blue/gold uniforms and put on these instead. In honor of women suffering from breast cancer (including one of their coaches) they’ll be auctioning off the once-used jerseys for charity on Valentine’s Day with all proceeds going to the Revlon/UCLA Breast Center. I’m not the biggest pink fan, but I love the message and the thought of it all… and it’s 250% better than the black jerseys Baron Davis requested a few years back!

Over 120 schools signed up to support this years WBCA’s Think Pink campaign, with many programs opting for the pink uniforms.
