Look! Even flowers are getting in the mood for Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October).
I love supporting good causes, but am always a bit weary about cause marketing. So before you rush out and buy anything in charitable support, make sure you know how much of the proceeds go toward the actual cause and if the company has a “cap” on its donation. For instance, a new pink blender will net a $50 donation and has no cap on its donations, and Ford will donate 100% of its net proceeds from its “Warriors in Pink” line. I only wish those little boxes of Tic-Tacs contributed more than $0.05… they’re pretty yummy.
Perhaps it’s best if you buy a little bit of pink, and send the rest of the check to the charity directly. Then everyone wins?
