i smell like a candy cane

all about aromatherapy

I have a remedy to those “oh my god I’m going to have a sickening migraine and die from it” moments that come around in life. Sadly, they pass through my days a bit too often, but that’s why I’m happy to have liquid candy canes in my purse.

I’m a HUGE fan of peppermint essential oil, and basically slathering it on my temples, neck & shoulders in times of crisis. Since it contains a lot of menthol, it instantly cools the skin… but also warms you up at the same time. It eats up the pain of a fever and calms your nerves with warmth where it needs it.

I stock up on my supply at my local Nugget, but used to rely on WholeFoods for my fix. And while I’ll still swallow my pills and close my eyes and cross my fingers that the pain will go away… the peppermint oil calms my senses enough to make the intermediary period pleasant and tolerable. Unfortunately, if you’re around other people or puppies, you may get licked.

Have you considered Origins’ Peace of Mind ointment? It’s been a lifesaver for me. I tote it around everywhere, particularly when I’m traveling. I’m very sensitive to smell (certain things make me nauseous or give me a headache) and I usually dab some underneath my nose and it makes all the difference in the world.

I used it long, long ago… but haven’t tried the combo again since I was told about the peppermint oil. But I went to their page and saw the bubble bath… soooo tempting to order!

It is! Now, I completely don’t rely on the oil to solve my problems, but it make the “please let the medicine work” period much more tolerable. My migraines/tension headaches push me to severe nausea, and this usually nips that ugly feeling in the bud! :) And it’s not too pricey to use it at any little interval!
