spoiled by santa

I was downright spoiled by Santa this year. I have a feeling it was because it was my last Christmas before a certain someone else would take the gifting spotlight, but still, I was blessed with too many kind souls who gave me way too much. Everyone must have wanted to inspire my creativity, because I really got to indulge in presents that keep on giving.

I was super spoiled with two more additions for the camera bag: a SpeedLite flash and a telephoto lens. The flash is amazing so far — but I really need to get a hold on its power and reign in what it can do in the dim nights of winter. The telephoto lens is a welcome addition as well… especially since it has the IS features, unlike my old pre-digital lenses that don’t want to take a steady picture for the life of them!

And then there was the addition for the craft room: a new sewing/embroidery machine! I got to play with it for the first time this weekend, and it was so easy to use that I think I may be spending a lot of relaxation time next to the nursery just sewing away. Oh wait… I forgot about that whole “you sleep when the baby sleeps” thing… well maybe only a few hours of downtime then.
.
I’ll have to share with you my first sewing project tomorrow — so easy and the perfect first-time baby project/gift for anyone. I’m not going to lie though… the desire to run out and buy lots of patterns and fabric is really hard to quell at the moment!
