#reverb10 – day 24

December 24 Prompt – Everything’s OK

What was the best moment that could serve as proof that everything is going to be alright? And how will you incorporate that discovery into the year ahead?

(Author: Kate Inglis)

I can’t tell you the exact day – just that it fell sometime after March 1st and before April 19th. I was a “learning day” and I can remember the exact sequence of events that occurred.

I woke up after a little bit of extra sleep. I fed Baby M. I put her in the bouncer and hopped in the shower. She sat ever so contently there while I quickly washed up. I got dressed, dried my hair, and put on concealer. I looked at myself in the mirror, and I looked a little more like “me” and less like a big frizzy zombie. We hung out and listened to music. There were many diaper changes and feedings throughout the day, and a big time nap in the Moby while I walked around wondering what to do with my free arms. And when Mr. M came home that afternoon, and asked how the day went, I said, “Really well actually.”

Everything was going to be just fine. There’s a reason the phrase, “One day at a time” is used so frequently. It’s because it applies to so many situations, and this was definitely one of them.

As the new challenges come from all angles next year… I need to remember that the day before doesn’t have to predict what today will bring. I just need to do what needs to be done today and see how it all plays out. There’s always tomorrow as well!

Sounds like the post I just finished for this topic. One day at a time is so my motto these days, because really, isn’t that how we should live life?
