transition: almost there

Julie is one of those people who just seems to do it all and keep on going… but not in the impossible way… just in the normal superhuman way that I envy on my laziest of afternoons. I’ve been reading her blog for ages, before her son came around… and now she’s expecting an absolutely beautiful daughter (check out the wonderfully cheerful nursery!)! I always look forward to her comments and love seeing her garden bloom year after year!

When Kim asked me to guest blog for her, I jumped at the chance! I have been reading her blog since before she was pregnant with miss L, and I just adore her! And at 5’1", I am justslightly jealous of her height!

Anyways, let me introduce myself! I am Julie- wife to my high school sweetheart, Brandon, and SAHM to our 2 year old son, Brayden, and soon-to-arrive baby girl! She is scheduled to make her debut on October 4th. We are down to the final countdown, and to be honest, I feel ready. Really ready. But also a little sad at the same time. Brayden has been nothing but my world for the last 2 years, 2 months, plus the 38.5 weeks I was pregnant with him. I know that my heart will just explode with love all over again, but this transitional phase our family is about to go through scares the ever loving you-know-what out of me!

The timing, however, is perfect. We are beginning a new season of life with a new season of weather- fall- my absolute favorite. Football, pumpkin patch trips, apple cider, apple pie, harvest, hoodies, jeans, and the color of the trees changing are just a few things I look forward to when the calendar hits September. This year is no exception! When the calendar hit September, I was instantly daydreaming of holding our baby girl with her big brother nearby, snuggled up in a cardigan, with a hearty meal in the crock pot.

Yes, I have just checked out of reality. Because it seriously can’t be THAT easy. Can it? I mean, I’m a veteran. I know what it’s like to have a newborn. I know what it’s like to have a toddler. But I have NO idea what it’s like to have a newborn AND a busy toddler. (cue the freakout!)

But with any season comes change- change of wardrobe, favorite meals, home decor, and activities. It’s just part of life. This season of change will certainly be no different. Change of routine, change in the amount of laundry and amount of sleep we all get around here for awhile, and a change of pace. It is definitely scary, but in the same way as the seasons change, it’s comforting as well. And just as I welcome fall with open arms, I can’t wait to welcome our daughter and start an entire new season of life.
