curated boxes of creativity and fun

My latest cringe of #Pinterest jealousy?  All those “365 days of activities/crafts/etc.” kits that awesome moms have prepared for their kiddos, in some sort of awesome teacher meets mommy’s living room way. As a former teacher, I know just how much time and space is required to prep for a week of fun/awesome lessons. And each time we’ve been stuck inside on a cold winter day, I think about jumping to action. But instead, I get twinges thinking about when that time comes to purchase everything, sort it out and have it ready at hand each day. So we experiment on the drawing table and in the kitchen, and maybe with a few little art kits I pick up here and there.

For instance, yesterday we decided to make cupcakes in honor of Chocolate Cake Day. Miss L dragged out her Princess Cupcake recipe book and picked out some fishy cupcakes that suited her fancy.

But nothing is as simple as just eating a cupcake with the kiddos right? Mom’s ingenuity thought to use black gel food coloring on white chocolate chips for the fish’s eyes, and, well… this happened.

So not only did we endure a racy bit of the sugar high from a cupcake eaten at 10:30am, but we also had to find a way to mop up all that dye… nothing really worked 100%. So … we might need to chart a new course of weekend in-house action outside of cooking sweets and decorating them… for everyone’s sake!

So, when I stumbled upon this nifty thing called a BabbaBox, I realized that someone had heard me mumbling under my breath at my computer screen. It’s a monthly subscription service that delivers curated & themed activity boxes for kids 3-7… and it just shows up right on your doorstep!

A BabbaBox is centered around one theme with four components: CREATE, EXPLORE, STORYTELL & CONNECT. It contains 2-3 projects, along with books and apps that will help expand your connection to the theme. Past months have been centered around Detectives, Polar Explorers, and Gratitude. This month, the kit is all about your child’s “Amazing Adventure” and invokes all sorts of fun personal adventures and imagination.

So why am I sharing this today? Well, other than absolutely loving this concept and knowing how many fellow moms are going to adore this as well, BabbaCo is running a couple of specials that I thought you might be interested in.

First, sign up for BabbaCo’s super fun Newsletter and you are entered to win a great prize package:

Annual Membership to the BabbaBox ($240 value)
$50 Gift Card from Shutterfly

Maybe you aren’t interested today, but signing up for the newsletter might peak your interest in a particular kit later on… or maybe think of it as a birthday present for someone special that you know!

Additionally, BabbaCo is running a very special “Cure to the Indoor Blues” offer right now:

$10 Off the 1st month of a new Monthly or Annual Subscription!
Just use the Coupon Code: FEB33 at checkout.

If you join, you’ll have to let me know how you enjoy it (so it’s not just me saying it’s super cool). And a big thank you to BabbaCo for sponsoring today’s discussion!

That is an amazing idea! I’m loving all of these great delivery-service-style boxes that are popping up all over the place! This one is the perfect age for my god daughter and I think her Mom would love the ideas and the help, as you said – it is hard to do!
